Meghan (she/her) is a registered and licensed occupational therapist with 10 years of experience in the field. Meghan’s interest in healing came as a result of her own physical injury. Through curiosity in her own and her clients’ journeys toward healing, Meghan has been led toward expanding into the private practice setting focusing on body work and regulation. Meghan's philosophy: The more regulated we are, the more regulated our children are, the more regulated the world is.
"When I had my child, my personal and professional worlds collided. As an occupational therapist with a long background in pediatrics and sensory integration I was looking for all the 'signs' of an unintegrated sensory system in my child. After a while of having a 'short fuse' I came to the realization that the way my body and brain interpreted some sensory information had changed since growing and birthing a human. Typically of lower registration, I was now so annoyed by crying, the dog barking, and being wet with breast milk.
Something needed to change as I was not showing up as the parent I intended to be. Occupational therapy historically focuses on regulation in children. However, I went back to my roots and using information from sensory integration, polyvagal theory, and embodiment work to better integrate the information I was taking in. I don't think I am alone in this. The world we live in is a hard one. A regulated state isn't just for kids; regulation is for grown-ups, too!"
